About the event
The idea of a Bator Tabor Contemporary Art Auction was born in Budapest, Hungary in 2005. Based on this experience in 2013 the first auction was organised in Warsaw. What began as a simple charity auction has, in a short time, become a significant event on the Polish art market. Its dual aim is to raise fund to send Polish children with cancer to the Bator Tabor camp and to promote contemporary Central and Eastern European art on a highly professional level.
Our auctions are exclusive and internationally acknowledged events acting as annual meeting points for top artists, art professionals, and a community of art loving and philanthropic people. By organizing the autions we strive to create a win-win event where the artists, the collectors and the charity partners are all gaining measurable benefits from being involved.
Our main partners have been from the beginning DESA Unicum S.A., the biggest auction house in Poland, and the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts, thanks to whom in the previous years our auctions have been hosted by Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw. The auction is traditionally conducted by Juliusz Windorbski, CEO of Auction House DESA Unicum S.A. We are very thankful for their support.
Adapting to the new circumstances caused by the pandemia, last year we organised our first online auction using the professional application of DESA Unicum S.A., and considering the current situation we kept this format this year again, and we are waiting for the honorable bids of our guests and supporters on the 13th of October, 2021.
We are greatful for the support of the Liszt Institute in Warsaw, where our auction materialhad been exhibited before the event between 6 – 13 October, 2021.
By selecting the auction material we closely cooperate with a professional jury team consisting of acknowledged Polish art expert. We have three categories of artworks: top Polish artpieces, Open Call and design objects.
- Michał Kaczyński, Łukasz Groczyca, Marta Kołakowska, Małgorzata Ludwisiak, Anda Rottenberg and Juliusz Windorbski are involved in the selection of the top polish artworks, and thanks for their hard and efficient work we have a great extract of the Polish artscene.
- Małgorzata Ludwisiak and Anda Rottenberg are responsible for the open call, where we invite young, talented, but yet unknown artist to participate in the auction.
- The third category of artwork are design objects, and the professional who selects the objects is Agnieszka Jacobson-Cielecka
